By the SayPro Royal Committee Deputy Chairperson: Sapapi Johannes Mputla 17 May 2025
Greetings to all,
I am honoured to address you today as the Deputy Chairperson of the SayPro Royal Committee, on this important occasion—World Hypertension Day 2025.
Today, we stand together—across continents and communities—to shine a light on a condition that too often goes unnoticed: hypertension, or high blood pressure.
This year’s theme, “Know Your Numbers, Know Your Risk,” is a powerful reminder that awareness is the first step toward prevention. It is a message we must carry into every home, every school, every workplace, and every community.
Hypertension is called the “silent killer” for a reason. Many live with it unknowingly, and by the time symptoms appear, the damage may already be done. But this does not have to be our story. With regular screening, healthy lifestyle choices, and proper medical care, hypertension can be managed—and even prevented.
At SayPro, we believe in community-led solutions. We believe that every individual, no matter their background or where they live, deserves access to basic health education and essential care.
This is why SayPro continues to work across Africa and beyond—equipping youth with knowledge, supporting families with tools, and collaborating with partners to extend healthcare to those who need it most.
Let us remember: checking your blood pressure takes just a few minutes. But it could add years to your life—or someone else’s. That is the power of knowing your numbers.
So today, I encourage you to take a stand for your health. Visit your clinic. Help your loved ones get screened. Learn more. Share more. Speak up. Let’s make blood pressure awareness part of our everyday conversations.
And to all the health workers, volunteers, and advocates—thank you. You are the heartbeat of this movement.
Together, we can create a world where hypertension is no longer a silent threat—but a challenge we confront with courage, unity, and care.
Let us move forward with purpose. Let us act with heart.
Happy World Hypertension Day.
Thank you.
