By the SayPro Royal Committee Treasurer: Dipuo Mildred Mamabolo 17 May 2025
Greetings to all SayPro members, partners, communities, and fellow global citizens,
I am honoured to speak with you today as the Treasurer of the SayPro Royal Committee, as we mark World Hypertension Day 2025.
Every 17th of May, we pause to recognize a condition that affects millions, yet often goes unnoticed—hypertension, or high blood pressure. It is a major risk factor for heart attacks, strokes, kidney failure, and other serious health complications. But more importantly—it is preventable, and it is manageable.
This year, under the global theme “Know Your Numbers, Know Your Risk,” we are reminded of a simple truth: what we don’t know can hurt us—but what we do know can protect us.
As Treasurer, I see firsthand how the right investment—in education, in awareness, and in community health infrastructure—can save lives. When we invest in health, we invest in the future.
That’s why at SayPro, we are committed not only to raising awareness, but also to supporting local solutions that make blood pressure screening, education, and treatment accessible to everyone—especially in underserved and rural communities.
Let’s be clear: the cost of inaction is far greater than the cost of prevention. A blood pressure check may be inexpensive, but it holds the power to prevent expensive hospital visits, life-altering complications, and even death.
So today, I call on our leaders, donors, organisations, and individuals to join hands with SayPro. Let us continue to invest wisely—in community outreach, mobile health clinics, youth-led health education, and more. Let us make health not a privilege, but a right.
To all those who are living with hypertension, and to the caregivers and health professionals supporting them—we see you, we honour you, and we support you.
Let’s work together to create a world where everyone knows their numbers, understands their risks, and has access to the care they need.
Let today be a day of commitment—not just in words, but in action and in funding the future of healthier generations.
Happy World Hypertension Day. Let’s build a stronger, healthier tomorrow—together.
Thank you.
