By the SayPro Royal Committee Deputy Treasurer: Jane Ndlovu 17 May 2025
warm greetings to our communities, partners, and fellow citizens around the world,
As the Deputy Treasurer of the SayPro Royal Committee, it is a privilege to join you today in recognition of World Hypertension Day 2025âa day that calls for reflection, awareness, and collective action.
This yearâs theme, âKnow Your Numbers, Know Your Risk,â is a powerful and urgent message. High blood pressureâalso known as hypertensionâoften shows no symptoms. Yet it remains one of the leading causes of heart disease, strokes, and premature death globally.
It is called the âsilent killerâ for a reason.
But today, we do more than raise awarenessâwe raise hope. Because with education, regular screenings, access to care, and healthy lifestyle choices, hypertension can be prevented and controlled.
As Deputy Treasurer, I understand the importance of making strategic, sustainable investments in public health. At SayPro, we believe that investing in early detection and prevention today leads to long-term savingsânot just in money, but in lives, productivity, and family well-being.
Thatâs why we continue to support community health programmes, mobile screening units, youth-led health campaigns, and partnerships with healthcare workers on the ground. We want every personâregardless of where they live or what they earnâto be empowered with the knowledge and tools to take control of their health.
I also want to speak directly to our young people: you are not too young to care about your blood pressure. Start early. Learn your risk. Help educate your families and peers. Health is wealthâand you are our future.
On this World Hypertension Day, let us renew our commitment to build healthier communitiesâthrough smart spending, shared responsibility, and strong partnerships.
Together, letâs turn awareness into action. Letâs help people know their numbersâand more importantly, understand what those numbers mean.
Thank you, and Happy World Hypertension Day.
Letâs continue to lead with vision, with purpose, and with compassion.
