By a Non-Executive Member of the SayPro Royal Committee: Timothy Magoro 17 May 2025
Warm greetings to all SayPro members, community leaders, health workers, and global citizens,
I am proud to join you today, as a Non-Executive Member of the SayPro Royal Committee, in commemorating World Hypertension Day 2025.
This year’s global theme, “Know Your Numbers, Know Your Risk,” is a powerful reminder that protecting our health begins with awareness.
Hypertension—commonly known as high blood pressure—is one of the most widespread health conditions worldwide. It is often called the “silent killer” because most people who have it are unaware of it, until it leads to more serious health issues like heart disease, stroke, or kidney failure.
But here is the good news: hypertension is preventable, manageable, and treatable—especially when we detect it early.
As a non-executive member, my role is to provide independent perspective and community insight to help guide SayPro’s vision. And I can confidently say: SayPro is committed to not only raising awareness but also taking action—real, community-based action.
Across our regions, SayPro is supporting free blood pressure checks, awareness workshops, mobile health services, and empowering our youth to lead health education campaigns in their communities.
We believe that health is not a privilege—it is a basic human right. And no one should be left in the dark about a condition that can be easily monitored with a simple test.
So today, I encourage you: take charge of your health. Get your blood pressure checked. Help a family member or neighbour do the same. Talk about hypertension in your homes, churches, schools, and workplaces.
To our healthcare workers, volunteers, and youth leaders—you are champions of change. We thank you.
To every citizen watching this—know your numbers. Know your risk. And know that you are not alone. SayPro stands with you.
Let this not be just a day of awareness—but a lifelong commitment to healthier, more informed communities.
Happy World Hypertension Day. Together, let’s build a future where health knowledge and access are for everyone.
Thank you.
