By SayPro Royal Committee Non-Executive Member: Israel Basie Medupe 17 May 2025
Greetings to all SayPro members, partners, and communities around the world,
As a Non-Executive Member of the SayPro Royal Committee, I am honoured to join you on this important day—World Hypertension Day, 17 May 2025.
This year, we come together under the global theme: “Know Your Numbers, Know Your Risk.”
This message is clear and urgent. High blood pressure—hypertension—is one of the leading causes of heart attacks, strokes, and other life-threatening conditions. What makes it so dangerous is that many people live with it unknowingly, without symptoms, until it’s too late.
But knowledge changes everything.
Knowing your blood pressure can save your life. And that is why today is not just about raising awareness—it is about inspiring action.
As a Non-Executive Member, I bring a voice from the community into SayPro’s leadership. And from that perspective, I want to say this: health education must be simple, accessible, and inclusive. It must reach the elderly in rural areas, the youth in urban schools, the workers, the mothers, the fathers—everyone.
SayPro continues to work across regions to bring health information and screening services directly to the people—because access to healthcare should never depend on where you live or what you earn.
Today, I encourage each of you:
- Get your blood pressure checked.
- Encourage your loved ones to do the same.
- Adopt healthy habits—eat wisely, stay active, reduce stress, and avoid harmful substances.
To our healthcare workers and youth leaders—thank you for being on the front lines.
To our communities—thank you for listening, sharing, and taking action.
Let us make World Hypertension Day not just a date on the calendar, but a turning point in how we protect our health—together.
Know your numbers. Know your risk. Take control.
Thank you, and Happy World Hypertension Day 2025.
